Curve Ball Campaign Update

The Curve Ball Campaign hosted three very small and special events on Saturday, February 21, that reached approximately 100 people.  The goal of these events was to host “opera friends” who normally attend the ball, but are in most cases not affiliated with the Opera, the Austin Lyric Opera Board, or the Austin Lyric Opera Guild.

 

Several Guild members and Trustees were included to serve as ALO ambassadors to these friends.  It was a very successful night as over $38,000 was raised. A huge thank you goes to all of our hosts: Jeff and Gail Kodosky; Tana and Joe Christie; Nicole and Carlos Lowenberg; Amalia Rodriguez-Mendoza; Katharine and Gregory Shields; and Randy and Deb Davis Groves.

 

Also, we would like to thank the Austin Lyric Opera for providing the musicians for these special events, as well as Kurant Events, Sterling Affairs, and Twin Liquors for their continued support and assistance in these special events.

 

To date, the Curve Ball campaign has collected monies and pledges from 69 donors that total $97,879.00.  The breakdown of our donors is as follows: 

  • 20 ALO Trustee/Guild members represent 46 percent or $46,000 
  • 2 ALO Trustees represent 2 percent or $1,500 
  • 20 Guild members represent 19 percent or $18,625 
  • 27 No Opera affiliation represent 33 percent or $31,754 

GREAT NEWS - we are over the half-way mark of reaching our budgeted goal of $170,000; in fact we are $72,121 away from this goal.  There certainly is no doubt that these economic times are difficult.  But this is such a reachable goal.  What is important here is that we have just had an amazing ALO production of “Rigoletto.”  Ticket sales were amazing.  Reviews were outstanding.  Austin Lyric Opera is being noticed in Austin, Texas.  Let’s not go backward, let’s tough it out together and move forward.  We need everyone to do their part, to do what we can to meet our budgeted goal for this great Company.  We have until June 30 to make another $72,121.  I know we can do it – Together!!!!!
